FAQs

Q: How can my child become a baller at Chargers basketball club?
A: Ready to join the squad? Then click “contact us” to arrange a trial when suits.

Q: What's the age range for the junior basketball club?
A: We're all about the young guns! Our junior basketball club is open from school year 3 to 11, aged 7 to 16 years old.

Q: When and where do we ball out at practice?
A:  Open sessions are on Sunday afternoons, with Team Squad sessions taking place during the week.

Q: Does my mini baller need any experience to join?
A: No! We welcome players of all levels, from rookies to balling pros. No previous experience required.

Q: What gear does my baller need for practice?
A: Players should come prepared! Bring those fresh kicks, comfy athletic gear, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. We'll handle the balls and other training gear, so no need to worry about that!

Q: Do we get to compete in any tournaments or matches?
A: Absolutely! Our squads play in the Surrey Central venue League (CVL). It's all about taking what they learn in training into friendly competition.

Q: How much does it cost to join the junior basketball club?
A: Latest Membership fees are further down this page.

Q: Can parents get in on the fun and help out?
A: For sure! We love parent power. If you're down to lend a hand with coaching, organizing events, or handling team logistics, we'd be happy to have you on board. Contact us to let us know if you're interested!

Q: How do you keep our ballers safe during practices and games?
A: Safety first, always! We've got your back. Our club ensures there's proper supervision during practices and games, and we've got first aid kits on standby. We follow all the safety protocols recommended by Basketball England, our governing body. Click the links at the bottom of this page to find out more.

Q: Can my child wear glasses when playing basketball?
A: Yes! Many pros wear goggles or contacts lenses, but glasses are fine too!

Q: Does height matter in basketball, my child is not very tall?
A: Basketball isn't just for tall folks! Shorter players can ball out too!  We've got boys and girls of all heights playing basketball and having a blast. It's not just about being tall - speed, skill, strength, agility, dedication, and smarts all come into play. So even if you're not towering over everyone else, don't sweat it. If you've got what it takes, you can still take on anyone on the court!

Q: Can girls play basketball?
A: Of course, guess you haven’t heard of the WNBA! All open sessions are open to Boys and Girls. Our U10 (school years 3-5) and U12 (school years 6-7) teams are mixed with boys and girls training and playing together. We have separate U14 Boys and U14 Girls teams.

Q: What is expected of players, coaches, and parents/carers?
A: It's super important for our club to be on the same wavelength when it comes to what we expect from each other. That's why we've laid down a “code of conduct” that apply to players and coaches. Click on the link below for more details.
